Small Business Banking Workshop | Wednesday, May 4

Sponsored by: Autobooks, MANTL and Segmint

Small business is in a state of transition. Technology is enabling local businesses to do more online, more individuals are leaving the traditional workforce to start their own businesses and banks are increasingly having to compete with third-party app providers for small business relationships. Is your bank prepared to face these challenges?

Join our Small Business Banking Workshop to build a strategy to attract, activate and grow small business relationships.

The workshop includes three sessions – all focused on small business. Each session offers educational content and data insights, coupled with session guides to be completed by the attendee. Attendees come away not only with the knowledge to better understand what is happening today but a practical plan to upgrade small business banking at their institution.

Session 1: Attract
Derik Sutton
, Vice President of Marketing, Autobooks
Small business owners need more than the traditional banking services offered by most banks today. This session provides voice of the customer research and data insights to help paint a picture of what’s needed by today’s small business owner.

Based upon customer feedback and data insights, attendees design a new small business checking account. The session guide leads you through the process of building a new small business account, and accompanying marketing page, that is more likely to attract small businesses in your market versus the competition.

Session 2: Activate
Evan Kirshner, Director of Sales, MANTL
40% of community institutions rate their business account opening processes as “somewhat or very poor” – and 53% say these broken processes limit their ability to grow. This session offers some guiding principles to help you open more accounts faster and create a more positive experience for your customers and your team. Attendees will learn:

  • What omnichannel really means-and why it matters more than ever
  • How to “bite-size” the application process for a more risk-based approach
  • The out-of-date practices that are killing your user experience
  • What can and cannot be automated using the latest technologies

How long should opening a business deposit account take? In this session, attendees will estimate the time it would take their teams to accomplish each critical step to originate an account for a few sample business cases. We’ll then reveal some industry-wise benchmarks of how the average bank performs today to see how you compare. Lastly, we’ll share data showcasing how these timelines change with a 100% digital process.

Session 3: Grow
Rachel O’Neill, Senior Sales Engineer, Segmint
Small business relationships have been historically underserved and difficult to maximize – but there is hope! The insights needed to reverse those trends are available in your banking data. With data at the foundation of your SMB strategy, the team from Segmint will help your bank better understand:

  • Which third party apps your customers are using to accept and make payments
  • The consumer checking accounts that are actually being leveraged to manage a small business
  • Additional growth opportunity available from existing customers that are using banking products through a competitor
  • The total dollar volume that is leaving your bank, and where it is going

Your bank’s executive team is probably challenging you to find new ways to increase non-interest fee income and product cross sales from existing customer relationships. This session is designed to help you address that request with a data-driven plan of attack for your small business portfolio. During this session, we work with live bank data to discover the hidden small business market opportunity and build a targeted marketing campaign designed to drive new small business growth.
