Matthew Cannon is a partner at Forvis Mazars. He has extensive experience serving both Fortune 500 banks and community banks. Mr. Cannon also has more than 13 years of experience with an international accounting firm serving financial institutions. His experience spans across various segments in financial services such as operations, treasury, credit risk, and internal audit.
Mr. Cannon has SEC experience in financial reporting, complex valuation techniques, regulatory matters, and operational process flows. He has extensive experience with SOX and FDICIA operational process flows and internal control risk assessment and improvement procedures across all areas in the banking industry. He has experience working with clients on the application of many unique and complex accounting and financial concepts. Mr. Cannon has specific experience leading audit teams through bank acquisitions, merger activities, and initial registrations with the SEC as a public company as well as public securities and debt offerings.

Jeff Harjo is managing director at Forvis Mazars and has more than 30 years of experience serving financial institutions. He leads a team of audit, tax, and advisory professionals serving financial institutions in Nashville and surrounding areas. Known for his practical and responsive approach, Mr. Harjo focuses on projects that matter greatly to banks, including credit administration, loan review, asset liability management, FDICIA internal controls, information security, mergers and acquisitions, compliance, efficiency/profitability, risk management, board communications, and human capital. Mr. Harjo also leads traditional audit, tax, and internal audit projects. Prior to joining Forvis Mazars, he was chief auditor/chief risk officer of a $30 billion publicly traded bank and an assurance director with a large international accounting firm. In addition to leading assurance and consulting projects for banks, Mr. Harjo has assisted community bankers, state associations, regulators, and lawmakers with regulatory initiatives.
