Chris Henkel is president at Finance. Risk. Unified. With nearly 30 years of experience, Mr. Henkel began his career working for a regional bank in Texas – providing analytical and quantitative expertise to improve the bank’s underwriting, credit decisions, and risk management activities.
As a managing director at Moody’s Analytics, Mr. Henkel worked directly with over one-hundred banks ranging in all sizes and geographies. During his 13-year career at Moody’s, he developed, sold, delivered, and supported solutions for commercial lending, allowance for credit loss quantification (including CECL), credit administration (including policy and process enhancement), risk ratings and modeling, portfolio monitoring, regulatory compliance, and financial risk management.

Aaron Taylor is CEO at Finance. Risk. Unified. (FRU) and spent 10 years at a leading regional financial institution. His scope of responsibility included the role of executive vice president, director of capital planning, director of enterprise risk management and director of financial planning and analysis with extensive experience on stress testing, ERM, and financial reporting and analysis. He was the primary architect for the Dodd Frank Act Stress Testing (DFAST) program, Model Risk Management program and ERM program while also designing pre-provision net revenue and credit loss models.
Mr. Taylor’s experience also includes extensive involvement in two major M&A transactions and the related purchase accounting. He also has extensive experience in profitability reporting, asset liability management, securities analysis, and cash flow modeling, in addition to his CPA and CFA license.

In this M&A climate, risk and resilience have been common themes at nearly every bank conference. And with good reason. Spurred by technological advancements and heavy-handed regulations that result in a steady decline in the number of community and regional banks, alarmists all like to ask the question, “What keeps you up at night?” It’s much more productive (and strategic) to ask “What’s at stake?” And the answer, of course, is a lot. Because – if you’re actually being forward-looking, you’ll want to know what type of information you’ll need to make informed – and strategic – decisions.
