Bruce Beach is chair of the board at Western Alliance Bancorporation. He has been a director at Western Alliance Bancorporation since April 2005, becoming lead independent director in 2010 and board chairman in June 2022. He has been a director at Alliance Bank of Arizona since its formation. Mr. Beach’s extensive experience in accounting and financial management has been instrumental in guiding the company’s growth, transformation and stability.
Mr. Beach previously served as chairman and chief executive officer of BeachFleischman, an accounting and business advisory firm in Southern Arizona, from 1991 to 2021.
As a certified public accountant, Mr. Beach has been a board member of the Arizona State Board of Accountancy since his gubernatorial appointment in July 2018 and is a board member and former chairman of the Southern Arizona Leadership Council. He is the former chairman, vice chairman and audit committee chairman of Carondelet Health Network, one of the region’s largest hospital systems.

Ken Vecchione is president & CEO of Western Alliance Bancorporation (NYSE: WAL), one of the country’s top-performing banking companies. Previously, he served as president and chief operating officer from 2010 to 2013 and has been a member of the board of directors since 2007.
From 2013 to 2017, Mr. Vecchione was president, chief executive officer and director at Encore Capital Group and chairman of Cabot Credit Management, Encore Capital Group’s largest majority-owned international subsidiary. Throughout his more than 35-year career, he has held senior positions at several large financial services companies.
Mr. Vecchione currently serves on the board of directors for the Greater Phoenix Economic Council and Downtown Phoenix Inc. and has previously served on the Board of Directors for Encore Capital Group, International Securities Exchange, the Federal Home Loan Bank and Affinion Group.

Jim McAlpin has over thirty five years of experience in advising leaders of financial institutions and boards of directors on strategic, regulatory and corporate governance matters. His corporate governance expertise is based on decades of being in board rooms to assist clients with mergers and acquisitions, capital and debt issuances, strategic planning and succession planning. Jim has deep understanding of the duties, responsibilities and fiduciary obligations of directors and an ability to explain these duties in plain English. A passion for Jim at this stage of his career is helping good boards become great boards through a process of learning, engagement and intentional choices.
Jim currently serves on the board of Bank Director. He also serves on the boards of two mid-sized banks. He is a nationally recognized speaker at financial industry conferences and contributes regularly to publications on bank and corporate governance related topics. He is often quoted in banking industry publications.
Jim served as Chairman of Powell Goldstein LLP from March 2004 until its combination with Bryan Cave LLP in January 2009. He subsequently served on the Executive Committee of Bryan Cave until October 2014.
Jim was the leader of the firm’s Banking Practice Group from 2011 until 2022. He received a J.D. from the University of Alabama in 1984, where he was an editor on the Alabama Law Review, and graduated, cum laude, from the University of Alabama in 1981 with a B.S. in Business Administration.
