Assessing Your Committee Structure

Play Video

An effective board of directors routinely evaluates its committee structure to ensure it is well-adapted to oversee its bank’s size and complexity, says Mark Kanaly, a partner with Alston & Bird. Boards may also benefit from bringing in a third party every two to three years to conduct candid, one-on-one conversations with individual directors. Such conversations can offer board members a chance to share honestly about what’s working well for the board and what could use improvement, he says.

Topics discussed include:

  • The Role of a Third Party
  • Frequency of Board Assessments
  • The importance of Crisis Readiness
