Eric Corrigan is a senior managing director and head of the financial institutions group of Commerce Street Capital, LLC.  He advises companies on mergers and acquisitions, balance sheet restructuring, business plan development and the private placement of capital for initial and secondary offerings, having advised on over $30 billion of strategic transactions and $35 billion of capital raises in a career spanning nearly 30 years.

Prior to joining Commerce Street in 2017, Mr. Corrigan was with FBR Capital Markets, and has spent portions of his career at KBW, Fox-Pitt Kelton and Citigroup, having started his investment banking at Salomon Brothers Inc.  In addition, he worked as a bank holding company examiner for the Denver branch of the Kansas City Federal Reserve District.

John Roddy is head of financial services investment banking at Raymond James Financial, Inc.  Mr. Roddy has over 25 years of investment banking experience and has completed over 150 capital markets and M&A transactions for depository financial institutions.  Mr. Roddy joined Raymond James in 2016. 

Prior to Raymond James, Mr. Roddy was global head of Macquarie Capital’s financial institutions group.  Mr. Roddy joined Macquarie upon its 2009 acquisition of Fox-Pitt Kelton (FPK), where he led the depository institutions group and was a member of the executive committee.  Before joining FPK, he headed the depository institutions group at Citigroup.  Mr. Roddy began his career in the financial institutions group at Lehman Brothers, where he was managing director at the time of his resignation.  Prior to joining Lehman Brothers, Mr. Roddy was an attorney with a New York law firm and at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.  

Matt Veneri is head of investment banking and managing director at Janney Montgomery Scott LLC.  Mr. Veneri joined the firm in 2019 after its acquisition of FIG Partners LLC, where he had been since 2005.  He is responsible for advising financial institutions on a wide range of strategic matters, focusing on mergers, acquisitions and capital offerings with companies operating throughout the country.  Mr. Veneri has over 25 years of experience assisting community banks and has advised on more than 90 bank transactions in excess of $6.0 billion dollars in total deal value. 

Jim McAlpin has over thirty five years of experience in advising leaders of financial institutions and boards of directors on strategic, regulatory and corporate governance matters. His  corporate governance expertise is based on decades of being in board rooms to assist clients with  mergers and acquisitions, capital and debt issuances, strategic planning and succession planning. Jim has deep understanding of  the duties, responsibilities and fiduciary obligations of  directors and an ability  to explain these duties in plain English. A passion for Jim at this stage of his career is helping good boards become great boards through a process of learning, engagement and intentional choices.

Jim currently serves on the board of Bank Director. He also serves on the boards of two mid-sized banks. He is a nationally recognized speaker at financial industry conferences and contributes regularly to publications on bank and corporate governance related topics. He is  often quoted in banking industry publications.

Jim served as Chairman of Powell Goldstein LLP from March 2004 until its combination with Bryan Cave LLP in January 2009. He subsequently served on the Executive Committee of Bryan Cave until October 2014.

Jim was the leader of the firm’s Banking Practice Group from 2011 until 2022. He received a J.D. from the University of Alabama in 1984, where he was an editor on the Alabama Law Review, and graduated, cum laude, from the University of Alabama in 1981 with a B.S. in Business Administration.
