The hackers had explored the servers of Finastra Group Holdings for three days before the company noticed they were there. During that time, they gathered employee passwords and created backdoors in dozens of domain controller servers that comprised crucial parts of the British core provider’s network in preparation for a massive ransomware attack, according to an April 2020 Bloomberg Businessweek article.
