On Jan. 3 of this year, missiles fired from an American MQ-9 Reaper drone killed Iranian Maj. Gen. Qassim Suleimani as his convoy was pulling away from Baghdad International Airport. Suleimani headed up the Islamic Revolutionary Guard’s secretive Quds Force and was a revered figure in Iran. He was believed to be the chief architect of Iran’s terror activities abroad and the U.S. government held him responsible for the deaths of hundreds of soldiers during the Iraq War.
