Bank Director's Risk Peer Exchange was based upon peer interaction and focused on important risk and regulatory issues facing bank boards today. Throughout the one day event, attendees met in closed-door, off-the-record peer groups for candid discussion of challenges and solutions. The board has a new mandate to be involved in assuring risk management is a top priority of the bank but how that is best performed is not fully understood.
From issues as basic as what committees are involved in risk management to what information the board should regularly receive about risk management are still unclear.
Frank, relevant small group conversations with peers is the best way to learn the various ways other bank boards from institutions your size are trying to answer the call for board involvement in risk management.
Topics and discussion questions were based on feedback from registered attendees prior to the event. There was a special afternoon roundtable on Compensation and Risk that proved to be very valuable for board members, especially Compensation Committee Members.
