The People

  L. William Seidman We, the staff at Bank Director, will certainly miss our friend, colleague, and publisher Bill Seidman. While we’re saddened by the news of his passing, we equally feel that his was a life to be celebrated. How often is a prominent figure, particularly spending much of his life in government, so revered by just telling you exactly what he thinks? Whether he was addressing Congress about the S&L crisis or giving bankers the hard reality in his quarterly editorial, Bill Seidman put on no airs and told you like it was. He had a great style of delivering information as a presenter at many of our conferences. One minute he would tell you why your bank might be in great peril if you didn’t listen to what he had to say. A short while later, an entire audience of bankers would be doubled over in laughter as he tried to decipher the impact of the latest regulations. He was the Pied Piper and Gandhi of banking all rolled up into one delightful human being. In today’s world of the internet and mass media we may not see another like him. For that reason the staff and readers say… thank you Bill Seidman… for just being you!
